 Imagine giving your HR Director a single key that gives him the capability of gaining entry to your building, by simply waiving it in front of a reader, and lock his closet door with the piece of mind that only comes from knowing a Medeco lock is securing his confidential information. The MP key combines the security of traditional Medeco locking systems, with the flexibility of an electronic access control system (EAC), all in one package. The high security mechanical blade allows you to have a high level of security on doors that may not warrant the monitoring and flexibility of an EAC system, but still require the pick resistance, key control, as well as the master keying capabilities Medeco locks provide.
The proximity chip contained in the head of the key is compatible with most currently installed HID proximity systems and is based on the popular 125 kHz, 26 bit technology from HID - one of the most widely used in the industry. The MP credential is available in several variations, allowing the user to upgrade or downgrade the credential as the need prescribes giving the user maximum flexibility:
- mechanical key + proximity head for full access and mechanical integration
- mechanical key + 'dummy' head for mechanical access only
- dummy blank + proximity head which provides a EAC credential to the user.
The MP system adds improved security to EAC proximity systems with the addition of a high security cylinder. High security keys eliminate EAC and audit trail bypass by picking, bumping, or copied keys resulting in unauthorized key holders. The dual function credential conveniently bridges the gap between mechanical and electronic security. In the end, this reduces system maintenance costs to replace lost or damaged separate credentials, makes for fewer credentials to track, while improving overall security, flexibility, and value to the system.
